The Emergency Motel Voucher Program (EMVP)
Compass Health’s Emergency Motel Voucher Program connects our clients with short-term housing assistance. While we aim to serve as many individuals and families as possible with funds provided by community-based sources, the program is currently only available to a limited number of Compass Health clients located in Snohomish County. The EMVP currently assists Compass Health clients in Snohomish County, primarily focusing on providing hotel vouchers to low-income individuals (at or below 80% of the area median income) who are unhoused and having difficulty finding a safe, stable place to live. Emergency hotel vouchers are a temporary solution, giving clients a safe place to stay while Compass Health team members work with them to find affordable, permanent housing. The vouchers are valid for up to seven days and can be renewed for an additional week, allowing a maximum stay of 14 days if the client is at risk of becoming unhoused again. Clients complete an application process to determine eligibility for the program, which is available once a year. If approved, Compass Health pays the motel directly, and the team begins working with the client or their families on finding a long-term housing solution.
