Community Programs
The Community Programs Section of the EMS Division provides community-based programs to enhance three critical links in the Chain of Survival, including Early Access to 911, Early CPR and Early Defibrillation. These programs include public awareness and education to citizens of King County regarding Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training, recognizing medical emergencies, calling 911 for medical assistance, injury prevention and health education. The emergency medical dispatch program also provides EMD Guidelines for dispatchers and pre-arrival instructions to assist callers in providing first aid, CPR or defibrillation prior to the arrival of emergency medical personnel.
