Hunger to Hope

Hunger to Hope was established to address unemployment and hunger through food service training. Built upon Friendship House’s very successful daily meal service, the innovative program engages participants in a 12-week training session to prepare them for careers in food service. Meals created by Hunger to Hope apprentices are served at the Friendship House Café. Apprentices will also receive assistance with resume preparation and job search strategies to prepare them for success in the food service industry. he program is open to anyone 18 years or older who demonstrates a need and desire for job training, meets the physical requirements for food service work, and completes the application process. Space is limited to 8 apprentices.

Eligibility:

Candidates for transitional housing must first complete at least one month in one of our emergency shelters. Clients cannot be admitted to the transitional housing program outside of this process.
